Commission a portrait - original hand painted portrait

$600.00

Let me paint a portrait of you or someone you love. My portraits are not life-like - rather, they aim to capture a beautiful representation of this moment in a person's life. This is the most special, personal gift you can give someone, child or adult, to celebrate who they are, both inside and out.

You send me photos of the person you'd like me to paint, and describe them for me. I'm looking for their essence, their energy, their passions and moods. This is what I will aim to capture in a painting. If possible I will include accessories, such as an animal or object of meaning.

I will then send you a proposal, outlining the colours and concept for the portrait, to check you are happy with the plan. If you like the concept, I will go ahead and paint it, using water colour, acrylic paints, and maybe some collage as appropriate. Sometimes I include metallic flecks in the eyes to make them pop.

I will paint your portrait onto a piece of high quality, A3 paper, and the finished portrait will be a little larger than A4 in size. It will be signed with my 'fixie' stamp on the painting.

Feel free to contact me to discuss a due date and whether I can complete your portrait in time. It is best to allow a couple of months, if possible, for completion of your portrait.

After purchasing this item, please email me, asphyxia@nemesis.com.au, with photographs of the person I'm to paint. The photos don't need to be wonderful - simple snapshots are fine. The important thing is that the subject is NOT smiling or posed. I look for the moment that the person is caught unaware and absorbed in their own world. I need to see the subject's face clearly, front on, to capture their facial features. Please also send some photos that show the spirit or energy of the person - these don't need to be clear - just capture a mood. Along with the photos, please describe as much as you can about what you would like me to capture about the person, and any associated objects or animals. If you know the person likes my work, let me know what appeals to them - gothic? Whimsy? Urban? This will be a springboard for me to create a concept for you - I may not be able to capture everything in a single image. Instead I will look for the elements that leap out at me to form an image.

Once the portrait is complete, I will send you a photograph of it, and then ship it to you, free of charge.

Note that while you will own the finished painting, the copyright for the work remains with me, and I reserve the right to reproduce images of the piece as I wish. Please discuss with me if you have concerns about this. I also usually post my paintings on Facebook - if there is a risk that the recipient might see it before they receive it, please let me know and I'll post after the relevant date.

Thank you, I look forward to painting for you, and I promise to imbue the painting with love and good feeling for the recipient.

Asphyxia.
